WOW, that was Mediocre…

Happy Business People - smallerSomehow these words don’t go together but they are exactly what we deliver to our customers…mediocre. The problem is we want them to say WOW!!

If our expectation of wanting WOW isn’t backed up with a process to deliver it, don’t expect it. You will be disappointed…every time. Companies get mad at their customers because they don’t say WOW, you are awesome. Yet they deliver mediocre.

Do yourself a favor, either align with mediocrity or WOW and you will be far less anxious about the results…you will always know what you are going to get. Where anxiety comes in is when we have a misalignment of what we are set up to deliver and what we expect as an outcome.

And just a final note…no one talks about mediocrity…either one-on-one or through social channels. It never makes it on the Word-of-Mouth meter. Next party or event you attend, go up to the group and say, “hey, I have waited all day to tell all of you about this mediocre experience I just had with XYZ Company.” Never happen…which mean you never get talked about.

Reduce your stress and anxiety and get in alignment and don’t worry about not getting talked about if you are mediocre. Expecting something that will never happen isn’t a great way to run a company. Like the famous book (which I highly recommend), “Hope is not a Strategy.” So stop hoping for massive Word-of-Mouth and going “viral” when you are delivering mediocre and thinking it’s WOW.
